If you followed my articles from the start of the season, you would have noticed some of my predictions about a few dark horses that had the potential to storm home in the final furlong.
True to my prediction we are on the verge of a new era. The Los Angeles Lakers are on the brink of extinction which may see the end of a dynasty. As one franchise falls there are three upstarts waiting to take their place atop the Western Division.
The Oklahoma Thunder is powering at full throttle and the Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki are punishing Kobe Bryant and the Lakers. Then there's the fairy tale where the sleeping giants of the West have woken, who knows how far the Memphis Grizzles will travel after knocking off the number one seed.
In the East the Celtics are close to falling on their sword with a bitter taste of their own medicine to boot. After years of bullying opposition sides into submission the Celtics aren't handling being on the receiving end of some very aggressive defence from the Miami Heat.
The Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks are winding back the clock to the days of yester year, where they had some historic battles.
I must also commend and congratulate the NBA for picking a real NBA MVP and not an entertainer who sets alight the floor during the regular season and fizzles when it counts in the post season.
Congratulation to Derek Rose, a great season and a deserving winner of a reward that has just gained back some much needed credibility.
