"From the wings-and-Bible emblem used in some parts of the world, to the dove used by MAF in the United States, the MAF logo has long been a symbol of hope and help to isolated people in remote corners of the globe," said John Boyd, president and chief executive of MAF-US. "This new logo continues that proud tradition."
MAF serves in 32 countries and uses aviation to share the Gospel and bring vital resources to regions cut off by natural disaster or remote areas that are not easily accessed by road.
This summer MAF has been actively involved in combating malaria in northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, supporting relief work in South Sudan, and enabling the work of churches, evangelists, and Bible translators across Africa and Asia.
Until now, several different logos have been used across the regions of operation. The new insignia will be adopted in all areas so that it can be easily recognised.
The new logo utilises red, blue and grey, and the presence of the dove is intended to symbolise the Christian faith, aviation and MAF's history.
It comes into immediate effect, although MAF anticipates that it will be some time before all 142 planes in its fleet are repainted with the new emblem.
