The game maker of Minecraft made the announcement last Thursday that a narrative-driven 'Minecraft' game will be launched in 2015.
The Minecraft: Story Mode is due out next year for almost all gaming devices available. This is such a challenge because there is a tight competition and might influence the core game.
Minecraft is all about breaking and placing blocks. In the first part of the game, players build structures to secure against night-time monsters, but as the game progresses, players work hand-in-hand to build cool, imaginative things.
Minecraft's developer Mojang stated in a press release, "We're not intending on creating an 'official' story for Steve, or explaining the world of Minecraft in detail." Steve is the game's protagonist.
Instead, new characters will be featured in this new Minecraft game as well as a new narrative crafted by Mojang, Telltale and to some extent suitably, the Minecraft community. There is no information yet how precisely the community will add to the game's popularity.
In an interactive game declaring the news, Mojang commented, "We've begun to realize that there's a massive demand for fiction set in the Minecraft universe. People love engaging the world, whether they're building, adventuring, or role-playing an awesome Creeper slayer." Mojang further explained, "The tricky bit is working out how to explore a story without diluting Minecraft itself."
Minecraft has had a hectic year and the latest news is the capper. Last September, Microsoft bought Mojang for a staggering amount of $2.5billion. Co-creator and co-founder of Minecraft, Markus "Notch" Persson pronounced his exit from the company.
In addition, Microsoft brings this newly acquired video game for mobile phones with its Windows Phone OS as reported by a tech website.
PC World also reported that this development took place two months after Microsoft acquired the game. They also said that, "Microsoft hasn't said how it plans to take Minecraft and Mojang forward, but building a Windows Phone version would seem to be one small piece of the puzzle."
