On the 19th April 2006, Australian Christians from all denominations were using the Internet to proclaim and defend the message of the Gospel to not only Australians but to the whole world through the launch of several new websites.
Christian organization Student Life a university ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ Australia had launched a new website known as ‘Everystudent,’ which sets out to be a safe place to explore questions about who God is and what it might be like to know God.
The site contained articles, real life video stories and a Q & A section where the viewers of the website get an opportunity to email a question they might have about God. The answer would be a personal respond to the viewer question.
The aim was to help the viewer see that God is offering them a personal relationship with Himself and how they can begin to know Him today.
The site hope the viewers would consider the possibility of knowing God and His love for them. It stated: “There is no other relationship we can experience that is so complete, which satisfies the longings of the human heart and mind.”
This comes at a time when Anglican Media Sydney had launched a new website as part of its central plank to counter the ‘Da Vinci Code.’ The book and soon to be release movie make a number of false assumptions about Christianity.
Allan Dowthwaite, CEO of Anglican Media Sydney told sydneyanglicans.net: “The novel and soon to be released film were based on a number of false assertions about Christianity that were in danger of being swallowed whole by an ill-informed public.”
The purpose of the new website entitled: ‘Challenging Da Vinci’ would be used to help the Anglican parishes to not only counter but assist them in answering questions, which results from the film.
This website was further backed with a revamped of an existing website known as ‘Christianity.net.au.’ The sydneyanglicans.net reported the re-launched website created by evangelists, educators and web designers would be ‘very attuned to the way modern Internet users operate.’
In addition a gospel presentation developed by Simon Smart (Youthwork’s writer) and John Dickson (acclaimed author) had been designed to ‘appeals to teenagers and 20-something desire to personally evaluate Christianity, rather than simply accept a rational argument,’ said Mark Hadley to sydneyanglicans.net.
