Facebook Inc has ended its result inclusion on the search engine of Microsoft Bing.
The move comes as Facebook restores its search offering. The tool on retrieving past information, posts, or comments posted by the user or his Facebook friends was introduced last Monday. Facebook's decision reflected the importance of "Web search technology."
The Facebook helps the users in searching his friend and connecting with them, or finding information present in the 1.35 billion users' walls.
A Facebook spokesperson said to Reuters that "We're not currently showing web search results in Facebook Search because we're focused on helping people find what's been shared with them on Facebook." "Facebook will continue its great partnership with Microsoft in different areas."
Microsoft is unavailable for comment.
Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg labeled search as one of the key growth initiatives of the company, considering the 1 billion, or more, search queries happening on Facebook daily. He hinted that the users' information being shared in Facebook could replace the need of Web searching just to answer the question.
During the conference held last July with the analysts, Zuckerberg said "there is more than a trillion posts, which some of the search engineers on the team like to remind me, is bigger than any Web search corpus out there."
According to comScore, the no. 2 provider of Web search is the Microsoft Bing with almost 20% market share.
Microsoft and Facebook have an established relationship when Microsoft invested $240 million in Facebook, 1.6% of the company's stake, last October 2007. Microsoft gave a banner ad on the website of the Facebook in its international markets.
The using of Microsoft banner ad was ended by Facebook in 2010 when Facebook attempted to get more control of the company's advertising business. At the same time, Facebook increased its use of search result of Microsoft Bing in its international version service.
