The Dally M award was named after the legendary Herbert Henry 'Dally' Messenger and is awarded to the best player of the season. Players accrue points on a 3,2,1 points system, as voted by journalists, and is announced following the conclusion of the regular season.
With one round remaining there appears to be three clear favourites for the 2010 award. Leading the charge is fullback/winger Darius Boyd and in hot pursuit is hooker Robbie Farrah and second rower Paul Gallen.
Despite leaving the Broncos, the clear favourite for Queensland supporters will be Darius Boyd, particularly given Gallen's dubious role in this year's State of Origin.
The Dally M Award will also prove to be a watershed for the media to turn its focus onto matters on the field and leave behind the seasons controversies – particularly as we head into the final series.
The final round tips are:
• Tigers over the Titans
• Raiders to outdo the Baby Broncos
• Warriors to beat the Eels
• Roosters over the Cowgirls
• Panthers to beat the Sharks
• Storm over the Knights
• Sea Eagles to flog the Bulldogs
• Dragons over the Rabbits in a local derby
