A former Seventh-day Adventists pastor and teacher of two Christian schools in Los Angeles, recently announced that he does not believe God exists anymore.
Ryan Bell, made headlines last year and received criticisms from Christian groups after he announced that he will take part in an 'intellectual experiment' wherein he will live as if there were no God in a year.
In the report by the Daily Mail, the 43-year-old Bell said that he would cease to pray, read the Bible, and think that God has anything to do with what's going on in his life for a year.
Nearly a year after he began the experiment, he said in a recent interview that if one begins 'looking at the majority of arguments... I don't find there to be a convincing case in my view.'
Simply put, he does not believe God exists anymore.
Ironically, during his 12-month journey in atheism, Bell met a devout Christian partner in Rebecca Pratt.
However, the report says that Ms. Pratt is 'open-minded' and that he understands the situation his partner is going through.
Bell has been a pastor for 19 years, most reently as the senior pastor of Hollywood Seventh-day Adventists Church. He then resigned from his office and announced the experiment. Almost immediately, two Christian schools in Los Angeles where Bell has been teaching fired him.
An atheist blogger then found about his cause and raised over $27,000 through a fundraising site to support his two daughters, aged 10 and 13.
In spite the change in belief, Bell claims that he is still the same person 'deep down'.
"I think before I wanted a closer relationship to God and today I just want a closer relationship with reality", he said.
Bell will make his final decision on Thursday, January 1 whether he'll completely become an atheist or not.
