Although The Bahamas consists of 700 islands, only about 50 of them are large enough or fertile enough to be inhabited.
The Zion Baptist Church has a congregation of 250 'adult members', with another 150 worshippers. As pastor, Peter Pinder encourages the strong men's and women's ministries, there is a youth focus, and an adults' Bible hour and a whole-family Sunday School hour.
He explained that the church focus is on evangelism and discipleship of the congregation. As such, he also emphasises homes bible studies and in particular, studies on Missions for outreach.
Peter Pinder also serves as the Regional Secretary of Caribbean Baptists on behalf of the Baptist World Alliance, which represents nations that speak English, Spanish and French, with the largest group being English speakers.
Both Baptist and evangelical work in the Caribbean region is expanding; especially so in The Bahamas. There is a growing number of churches, and the future is indeed, very bright.
