Paul played professional rugby league for 11 years for both the St George Dragons and Cronulla Sharks. At the Sharks, Paul together with his brother Jason (Australian and NSW representative), helped form a group of dedicated Christian players, called the 'God Squad' by the media. This group saw other team mates come to faith in Christ with some physically healed of injuries, which also made news headlines.
At the end of his playing career, Paul became team Chaplain of the Sharks. During this time, Paul pioneered a weekly, faith-based discussion group with team players, which was successful in discipleship and winning others to faith. He drew media attention by running both an Alpha course and special church service, attended by top grade players.
After five years Paul handed on his Chaplaincy role to relocate to Camden and pioneer Lifehouse church in Sydney's southwest, under Apostolic Australia. "Lifehouse is a vibrant, growing church with a strong community focus", said Paul. Recently he was one of three prominent Christians chosen in the life size version of Da Vinci's Last Supper painting, promoting Hollywood's 'The Bible' movie in Asia-Pacific.
Paul is a sort after speaker both locally and abroad, having experience in addressing diverse audiences, including Australia's past Prime Minister. "I was speaking in the UK/Europe last year when an agent for Inspiration TV was impacted by my message and invited me to record some TV spots. I started to think of how the life lessons I had uniquely learned through playing Rugby League, also applied to living and growing in the Christian faith," he said.
All the spots were filmed on location at the home ground of the Cronulla Sharks. "Filming where I played so many memorable games meant I was able to relate key moments in my playing career with a variety of spiritual lessons," he said. "In one game I badly injured my shoulder and missed the entire season. I retold that event on the very spot where it happened, then shared how my faith helped me overcome disappointment and spurred my eventual comeback!" said Paul.
Other TV spots include; 'Being fit on the inside', 'A second half comeback' and 'Loosing to win'. "Overall, each TV spot encourages listeners towards God and his great plan for our life, as this is the most significant way to 'ignite your life!' " he said.
