A bit of research illustrates that the last medal of any colour by an Australia in the blue ribbon 100 metre sprint was Michael Clearly way back in 1962 at the Commonwealth Games held in Perth, Western Australia.
Then we need to work backwards -
1954 British Columbia, Canada Commonwealth Games
Hector Hogan – Bronze
1950 Auckland, New Zealand Commonwealth Games
John Treloar – GOLD
Bill de Gruchy - Silver
1938 Sydney, Australia Commonwealth Games
Ted Best – Bronze
That's it folks…
There is nothing in the modern era.
Our top sprinter's names in the modern era were true champions (as a 100 metre sprinter I can attest to this) but for whatever reason, they were never able to stand on the podium with a Commonwealth Games 100 metre Medal.

I saw Eric Bigby run in Brisbane in 1971 (Eric was a mature aged sprinter in his early 30's and should have been given more opportunities at international level). That was the time I won the Triple Jump in Brisbane. I met Paul Narracott when he visited Basil Sellers House in Moruya.
This year, 2010, Aaron Rouge-Serret (22) won the Australian 100 metres title and he will be at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India.
We wish Aaron Rouge-Serret well…maybe he might break this woeful drought of men's 100 metre spring medals.
