They are based in the north west Brazilian city of Reficie, the fifth largest city in the nation, which has many Christian churches - many of them Baptist; and their role with the Brazilian Baptist Home Mission Board is that of co-ordinating and caring for the missionaries throughout the nine States of the nation.
Regina and Serino Refosco train missionaries in theology as well as helping them maintain their own independent pastoral care for themselves and their families. In order to do this, they have developed an orientation course for the missionaries in order to help them with the necessities of life on the mission field, as many of them are working alone in rural areas of the country.
In this situation, a strong solid support base is an absolute necessity and it is in this area that the Refosco's have specialised.
This type of support is particularly important for the 500 native Brazilian missionaries, many of whom have returned to their own cultural groups, and are now the 'leaders' who are founding churches and establishing schools, medical centres and welfare agencies.
Regina Refosco's emphasis is to train these missionary groups to preach Jesus Christ, in ways that hearers will respond and receive the Holy Spirit, as the New Testament teaches that the missionaries are to take Jesus' message throughout Jerusalem and Judea and to the uttermost part of the Earth - which includes Brazil.
Regina and Serino Refosco have a family of three, two of whom are married. They have proudly recently become grandparents.
