Since the 1920s the NSW Council of Churches has used radio 2CH to share the good news about Jesus Christ. Forty years ago, under the leadership of Bernard Judd, the Council of Churches initiated regular news commentaries on 2CH, presenting a Christian perspective on the news of the day.
Bernard Judd continued these commentaries for 27 years. Ross Clifford followed for a short time before taking his own program, Connections, which airs on Sunday nights. Margaret Rodgers presented the news commentaries for the past 13 years, and retired last month.
"It is an honour to follow such experienced and informed social commentators," Revd Benson said.
"Part of the mission of the NSW Council of Churches is to connect faith with life, to apply biblical and theological principles to contemporary issues in ways that make sense and inspire action. The broadcasting partnership with 2CH is a vital part of this work," he said.
"We are grateful to Bernard Judd, Ross Clifford and Margaret Rodgers for their faithful and professional service, and we will continue to offer quality news comment with a gospel focus for Sydney listeners."
The brief 2CH news comments are broadcast every Sunday at 9.00 am, midday and 5.00 pm. Transcripts of recent comments are available at http://www.nswchurches.com/
The NSW Council of Churches also broadcasts Sunday at 7.30 (7.30-8.00 am), Sunday Night with John Edmondstone (8.00-9.00 pm), and Connections with Ross Clifford (9.00 pm-midnight) on 2CH.
