Samsung announced Galaxy Note 7 earlier in August, which currently runs on Android 6.0.1 version Marshmallow, but would be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat in the coming two to three months. Samsung Mobile President Koh Dong-jin has confirmed the update.
However, the exact date of the release has not been yet revealed, but the Android Nougat version iteration will be released following collection of users feedback. Therefore, that means the Note 7 will be released around October to November.
Dong-jin said, "It is extremely important for the company to provide up-to-date information with the latest operating system, but what is more essential is to put up a stable and faultless platform for consumers".
The Korean Times reported that the Samsung Mobile president said in order to ensure a flawless OS, the company is planning to perform as much beta testing as necessary prior to any OS updates.
Google unveiled android Nougat's preview in March this year, and it was available for developers in the same month. The last developer preview update was rolled out in July, which was the fifth in a row. Google is scheduled to launch the final software update, starting with the Nexus devices in the third quarter of 2016. By this, it is clear that Android Nougat for Note 7 would be offered only after that, possibly sometime around in October or November.
Dong-jin, speaking at a press conference, said that Samsung Mobile was planning for a 128GB variant of Galaxy Note 7, but that version will be only for the Chinese market.
The Note 7 is likely to be available in diverse colors including blue coral, silver titanium, gold platinum, and black onyx, the latest Note 7 will hit the markets on August 19 in the US and on September 2 in Europe.
