American political thriller television series 'Scandal' is all set to return with its sixth season in 2017. Fans are already excited to know who will step into the President's shoes, and which way the love triangle between Olivia, Fitz and Jake will be heading.
Last season, Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) stepped down from the President' duty, making way for the two tuff contenders, Mellie (Bellamy Young) and Frankie (Ricardo Chavira) to run for the presidency.
Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) and Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) were shown eyeing the position of the Vice-President. It is now to be revealed in the season 6 that who becomes what. And the good thing is that, fans won't have for long to know the result.
"We are basically going to start our season on election night. Yes, it is going to play into our season, but we're not going to spend our time playing an election," said executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
She also hinted that the season will not be all about the election.
Since Fitz is over with his job, he is free to pursue a life with Olivia Pope. But it will not be a bed of roses for him as Olivia (Kerry Washington) is already into Jake. Things took a surprising turn when last season revealed the events of Olivia and Fitz's aborted child, so fans are expected to witness some love-hate exchanges.
Bellamy has also teased about Fitz new approach calling him "open-hearted Fitz" in the upcoming season.
