The second season of the American TV series Shadowhunters doesn't have an official air date yet. However, fans have been guessing that an early 2017 release is definitely possible. And when the characters return for a second run, there are some interesting things set out for them.
First, let's discuss which folks are returning next year. Yibada tells us that there's something rosy brewing between Magnus and Alec. Remember that beautiful kiss they shared back in season 1? It looks like that's going to take them down their happy road. Also, Ed Decter has bid farewell to the team, paving way for Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin to run the show instead.
Decter had this to say about the characters returning for the second season, "Simon's girlfriend Maureen has a lot in store for her, and there's a lot in store for Jocelyn and Luke."
Meanwhile, Jace is going down a dark road this season. Actor Dominic Sherwood, who portrays Jace on the small screen, revealed that his on-screen avatar gets worse before getting better. Actress Katherine McNamara, who plays Clary, gave her views on the character, "Jace has been so sure of himself this whole time and known exactly who he is, but now that he's learned that Valentine is his father, it's kind of changed everything for him."
Deadline revealed that another star is going to join the club when season 2 airs. Nick Sagar of The Haves and the Have Nots fame has been roped in to play the role of Victor Aldertree, a recurring character from season 2. Aldertree is supposedly a Clave Representative who has been assigned the task of inspecting Jace's correspondence with his father Valentine. In the finale of season 1, Jace took his father's side. And ever since, he hasn't quite felt at home among the Shadowhunters. Maybe when things get better for him, he'll be more at ease.
