Pastor Drew is one who can welcome people with a traditional Fijian greeting with the joy of the Lord. "Bulla!" he exclaims exuberantly when he meets you, which can be translated something along the lines of 'Hi, G'Day, Good Health'.
He grew up on Fiji's Coral Coast in a small village where his parents were very strict Christians who followed the Lord with a passion.
"When I played up as a young boy in church, they would have a stick and poke me with the stick to try and get me to behave," Pastor Drew said with a wide smile.
Although he was forced to attend church when young, in Fijian villages on a Sunday, it was the only thing to do. So it was there that he would find his friends and spend some time 'hanging around' with them.
"However, when I grew older, these same friends proved to be a great temptation," Pastor Drew explained. "Together we smoked and drank, and I grew to love beer and dancing."
But he had a great fear of two things in the secret parts of his life, the first was that he thought that if he kept going in the direction he was heading he'd more than likely end up in prison. The second was a worse case scenario, he might end up dead.
"It was at this point in my life that a visiting evangelist came to our church, a Pastor Lee. This was in 1991 and he took a special interest in me, he noted the change in my life, and recommended I attend missionary school in Suva," Pastor Drew explained.
Sakiusa Dreunimolea (Pastor Drew) was one of the Fijian delegates at the recent Baptist World Alliance Living Water Australasian-South Pacific conference held in Cairns where he gave a video testimony for Australian Missionary News IPTV.
"The very first day I arrived at the missionary school, I was in my room alone and I burst out in tears for my sin and it was there that I fully committed my life to Jesus Christ," Pastor Drew told Mark Tronson of the Australian Missionary News IPTV.
He completed his theological education and was appointed Pastor to his village church. As he has a great love of music and sport. He plays the guitar for his congregation, Pastor Drew is trying to find ways to develop a sports ministry for the young people of his community.
"I love my people and my people love me and my family. I love preaching Jesus and my congregation love hearing my preach Jesus. Telling others about Jesus is what I teach my people in much mutual joy," Pastor Drew explained.
Pastor Drew and his wife have a deep love for each other and their six children. He says that praying for each other and supporting each other is the centre of their family life in their ministry.
