There is a song that says:
“I will trust in You and know that You are with me forever
I'll confide in You 'cause You're the only answer that matters
Even in the darkness, You will be my light
Even when I'm hopeless, You will be my guide
I will not be shaken, I will not be moved
Even in the chaos, I know that You're good
You're the keeper, protector
It is You God that holds us together
When everything else fails us
It is You God that holds us together”
Have you ever felt like life is getting a bit too much? Have you ever found yourself being overwhelmed by the things around you? Whenever I have felt this way, I have always prayed about it. This is when God steps in and reminds me to slow down. I allow God to order your steps and lead me in the direction that was destined for me.
With you in the storm:
Facing storms in life is inevitable. There will be days when it seems as if we can’t make it, however, rest assured that Jesus is our anchor. Jesus is the one that will keep us from falling apart. Even amid all chaos he will prove himself mighty and strong.
A great example of God showing up in the roughest and toughest storm comes from the book of Acts chapter 27.
The Apostle Paul along with some other prisoners were being transported via ship to Rome. On their journey they encountered a massive storm at sea. Logically, it was impossible for them to survive a storm of that degree. Of course, at first, Paul believed that their lives were at risk. Acts chapter 27, verse 10 reads“Men, I can see that our voyage is going to be disastrous and bring great loss to ship and cargo, and to our own lives also.”
Nonetheless, God showed up on time. God intervened and brought comfort to Paul, so he was able to comfort the others.
Acts chapter 27 verses 22 to 25 says, “But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed.Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.”So, keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.
Your anchor:
“We have an anchor that keeps the soul steadfast and sure while the billows roll.”
Our anchor is Jesus Christ. He promises us in Hebrews chapter 13 verse 5 “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” Just as he showed up for Paul in the shipwreck, he will show up for us in our daily battles. We just must be faithful and trust in him wholeheartedly.
Whenever you feel anxious and overwhelmed take a deep breath, slow down, and remember God is with you through the storms. There is a purpose for all you are facing, and the promises of God are true. He will work all things out for your good. There is no storm too great for God to handle, he only needs to speak but once, “Peace be still.”
Stand in faith, walk with confidence, Yahweh is on your side, he will bring you through the toughest storms in life. Slow down. God is in control.
