A pastor was recently been arrested after giving a sermon in a North Khartoum church in North Sudan.
Rev. Yat Michael was arrested after he preached God's Word at Khartoum Bahri Evangelical Church on Dec. 21.
According to the report by Morning Star News, the pastor is still in jail without any charges.
In the report, Rev. Michael is a pastor at South Sudan Presbyterian Evangelical Church, and was invited to bring God's message to the evangelical church in order for its members to continue standing fast in spite of persecution from the government.
Members of the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) arrested the pastor and brought him to their office. A church leader at Khartoum Bahri Evangelical Church said the authorities took the pastor's mobile phone.
"We tried to visit him, but it was not possible as the security prevented us from doing so," said the church leader.
For the past few months, the church in North Khartoum has been experiencing adverse efforts from the government in order to demolish the entire church property and let Muslim investors take over.
In the report, the authorities have demolished a Christian college, other buildings in the property, and even a portion of the church's main worship area.
The NISS is empowered by the Sudanese government to arrest Christians, citizens from South Sudan, and others which are considered 'undesirable' in the state. Officials can put them into prison even without charges.
"The level of persecution has become too much for us in Sudan," another church leader said. "But God is good all the time; He will help His church face this persecution."
