
Liverpool are 4 points behind Chelsea but do have a game in hand and also some big fixtures ahead. This was a cruel blow to Cardiff though as they do whatever they can to avoid the drop. The defeat leaves them 3 points from safety with only 7 games remaining.
Chelsea looked like ending Arsenals title ambitions with a 6-0 thumping at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal were reduced to 10 men early on with a hand ball on the line and Chelsea didn't look back, thumping 4 first half goals to ensure they remained at the top of the Premier League. Hazard was again sensational and at times unplayable as Chelsea maintained their 4 point lead at the summit of the premier league with only 7 games remaining for most clubs.
The loss for Arsenal now looks like ending their title dreams however 4th place is extremely likely which keeps their champions league position safe.
Manchester City remained the bookies favourites with a classy 5-0 win at home to Fulham. Yaya Toure's hat trick secured a relatively easy victory at home to leave City 6 points behind Chelsea but with 3 games in hand. Fulham meanwhile are in real danger, now 4 points away from safety and games running out. The club are still confident but know it's going to be a difficult end to the season.
Saturday's other matches effected both ends of the table with Everton defeating a gallant Swansea 3-2 at Goodison Park. Hull made sure they were relatively safe from the drop zone with an impressive and professional 2-0 win over West Brom.
Newcastle scored a stoppage time winner to take all 3 points at home to Crystal Palace whilst Norwich had a much needed victory winning 2-0 at home to in trouble Sunderland. Manchester United's Wayne Rooney struck what will be a contender for goal of the season with a screamer from half way as he scored a brace to secure a 2-0 away win at West Ham.
Sunday's fixtures saw Aston Villa host Stoke City and Southampton take on Spurs at White Hart Lane. Villa were outplayed for all of the match, as Stoke ran out comfortable 4-1 winners at Villa Park. Spurs meanwhile continued their push for a top 4 finish with a last minute winner, eventually winning 3-2 at the Lane.
