The United legend was United's only strike in a precious away victory at Wolverhampton. United are now 2 points clear of Chelsea however the Blues didn't play this week, they have a game in hand.
Arsenal stayed within striking distance to the top two with a hard fought 3-1 victory at home to Burnley. Fabragas scored early for the Gunners but had a hamstring scare so was brought off as a precaution. Arsenal are buoyant after some good results and have a fantastic run in, as the season comes closer to the end.
Champions League hopefuls Liverpool were the only team in action for the hotly contested 4th spot. However they blew a fantastic chance to keep the pressure on when they visited neighbours Wigan. With Benitez calling for more commitment Rodallega scored for Wigan for his 8th Premier League goal this season and kept his team well outside the drop zone in a 1-0 win for the home side.
Bolton were the big winners in the battle to stay outside the relegation zone with an impressive 2-1 away win at Upton Park. Wanders have struggled in recent times to find the net and when Kevin Davies opened the scoring in the first 10 minutes, Megson believed this would be his day. Bolton with back to back victories are now 5 points clear and it would take a brave man to bet against them continuing this impressive run in the top flight.
Everton gave its fans a five star display with Arteta back from injury, scored a brace.
The Toffees dispatched of a poor Hull outfit with goals also from American Donavan, Rodwell and an own goal. Birmingham City continued their remarkable form with a 2-1 away win at Fratton Park. Jerome was the hero with a double that keeps the blues in the hunt for a surprise European place. Bent stole the headlines with a hatrick with a much needed win for Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Bruce was very relieved with a win that keeps Sunderland away from the bottom clubs.
FA Cup quarter finals were also played this week. With Chelsea, Aston Villa and Portsmouth progressing, whilst Tottenham and Fulham will have to fight out a replay. Semi Final draw at Wembley is Chelsea v Villa. While Portsmouth play the winner from Spurs and Fulham.
