Nine months previous, the idea was conceived by some of the music team, to facilitate a night of authentic corporate worship, a night where the majesty of God alone was magnified through song and prayer.
The evening featured dynamic and intimate congregational arrangements of new songs from the growing community of song writers at St Paul's. Previously published songs were also featured with acoustic arrangements.
Throughout the projects preparation, a focus was placed on the vision of 'Living Devotion', taken from Philippians 4:8-9. The album will consist of 15 songs, each having its own place in the albums theme, encouraging us to devote our lives 24/7 to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Executive Producer Bren McLean says, "St Paul's is a place where the Word of God is at the centre of everything that we do. But it's also a place where the creative arts are encouraged and celebrated". He continued, "We've been blessed with a number of gifted singers, songwriters, musicians and technical people, and when the Holy Spirit moves we are empowered to present to people the good news of Jesus with passion and relevance. Last Saturday night was a perfect example of that".
Following the event, the church hopes for the album to provide a resource for the local congregation, as well as the wider church, with singable, inspirational songs, that help people to connect with God in a personal and profound way.
Event Manager and album Producer Ro Tombs, was equally pleased with the outcome. "The commitment and desire by the team of over 70 volunteers to see our God glorified was amazing. Our church is responding to Him generously with their lives."
The producers are excited at the prospect of capturing the essence of 'Living Devotion' digitally, and are including a number of video files of the LIVE event in an iTunes 'deluxe package'.
The album is expected to be available late May this year.
