It's somewhat strange that this is the first time the Super Bowl has made it to the Dallas Fort-Worth area, considering the heritage and rich history of Football that is embedded within the Texan people.
Arguably the true home of NFL football, Texas Football is considered the toughest in the country. More players come through the high school system to college and Pro teams than any other state.
Texan Football leverages their rich history and aura, to inspire and push their young talent beyond what most other programs dream about one day achieving.
This rich tradition dates all the way back to the first all Texan Cotton Bowl. Then a few years later the Dallas Cowboys burst into the NFL instantly becoming "America's Team".
It wasn't long before the Cowboys were the most loved team by the fans, and the most feared by opposing teams.
Now, Hall of Fame coach Tom Landry, orchestrated one of the most punishing defences ever seen in the NFL, combined with a "keep the ball on the ground running game" in the offence that was brutal.
Landry's style was an instant hit with fans around the country, as it directly mirrored the style of college and high school football that Texas is famous for.
Whether you're travelling in Hong Kong or you're visiting an old friend in Greenland, the response is always the same. If you mention the NFL, the response you always get is yes I know the Dallas Cowboys.
Although you could argue it's a disgrace it's taken this long for the Super Bowl to get to Dallas, I'm just excited that were taking the game's biggest event to its rightful spiritual home.
Knowing the culture of the people of Texas when it comes to doing things "Big", I'm counting down the days until February 6; surely this will be the Bowl upon which all others are judged.
