Truth is whatever I would like it to be. Morality and truth are based off my personal convictions, not dictated by anyone or anything else. The Bible was a well written collection of stories with valuable lessons to learn, but it is not relevant in today's society and culture.
Hogwash!
In this post-modern era the world is being deceived by the subtle lies of the enemy and forsaking biblical truth. These lies aren't new; Satan presented this argument to Eve in the garden when he challenged the authority of the Word of God and what He had spoken.
Eve was sucked in, questioning what God had said. In the end she was drawn into a false belief that she could achieve something better without God (and yes, Adam stood by and did nothing while this all played out).
Our own truth
Fast forward thousands of years and we are being told life will be much better if we create our own truth. Developing a personal value system governed by oneself, in a 'tolerant' and 'accepting' society is a crafty plan (although the victims may be ignorant) but directly opposes the values and beliefs presented in the Bible.
Unfortunately this train of thought is not just ensnaring the general public but becoming rampart among the Church, as 'Christians' are succumbing to the pressure of public opinion and false teaching.
The Church, once the solid leader in all spheres of life, has become a minority group with a confused sense of its own vision and mission. Accepting a new definition of truth, many Christians are being led astray, like lambs to the slaughter.
The truth is...
The Church has no merit if the Word of God is not perfect. One error in the scriptures dilutes the Bible to just a book of fascinating stories with good lessons to learn. Just like the missing ingredient in a recipe can destroy a whole meal, or one word in a legal document can completely change the outcome, so too one mistake in the Bible removes the credibility of everything else it says.
I mean, if I can't rely on the Bible's stance on relationships, finance and education how can I trust Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a life of perfection, gave Himself up freely to death on the cross, rose again and is now seated at the right hand of the Father??
The world is in a state of decay, we have the answers... YOU have the answers. It's all in the book society is attempting to discredit.
Yes, there are different interpretations and it can be hard to understand some theology, but in our fallen nature don't doubt God's power and ability to write complete truth through the Bible, a truth surpassing all time periods and cultures. For the Word of God is 'God-breathed' and 'living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword'.
Where is your source of truth?
I urge you now: consider where you receive your source of truth. Think about who and what influences your value system and your beliefs. Are you being swayed by the winds of the times or are you standing on the Rock?
The last commandment we received from Christ before He ascended to heaven was, 'teach(ing) them to obey everything I have commanded you' (Matthew chapter 28, verse 20). If we don't know what Jesus taught, if we don't know the scriptures or if we don't believe the Word of God, how can we accurately follow this commandment??
We must get back to the Word of God, we must read and study it and we must acknowledge it as absolute truth, leading and guiding us into a life abundant. Don't compromise and don't hesitate.
