"The E100 Challenge is a Bible Reading challenge that gets people reading the Bible they already own. It dares people to blow the dust off their Bible and tackle 100 selected readings that will take them through the narrative of Scripture. E100 taps into that competitive side of us, challenging our determination and fortitude."
Anne from Sydney has found the E100 Challenge perfect for her to start reading the Bible again.
"I had read the Bible a bit when I was younger but as a Mum, I never found anything that would get me up and into it again. The E100 Challenge is just what I needed. It gave me a goal, some direction and a great framework for seeing how the Bible is all tied together."
The E100 Challenge is certainly not complicated. Participants are encouraged to grab an E100 Punchout Planner and start reading. They literally punch out the holes once that particular day is finished, and each person (or group) can progress at their own speed. For extra help and insight, they can get the "Essential 100 Companion Book" which has a single page commentary on each reading. The most useful resources may well be the tools that have been created for church leaders and Pastors who want to take a church-wide challenge. There are sermon notes that correspond with each section (a section consists of 5 readings), discussion guides for group interaction, and a church registration pack with posters, information brochures and sign up sheets.
Scripture Union in Australia will launch the E100 Challenge nationally on the 30th August 2010. They follow the lead of New Zealand who had a great launch earlier this year with over 10% of the churches in the country now engaged in the challenge, involving over 20,000 participants. With dozens of churches already pre-registered for the E100 Challenge in Australia, Scripture Union is hoping that E100 will see thousands of people re-engage with the Bible they already own.
