A few months ago, I discovered "Landmark Education" and was able to change the minuses into an amazing community project and make a difference beyond my wildest expectations. I realised that my cultural differences (as well as those of other people) could be put to use and impact the world.
Three months ago, I created an association called "The means to the way". It was born out of the idea that the opportunity to share cultural differences should be available to anyone, anywhere, at any time.
I wanted to transform the common knowledge we have of travelling: it is expensive and only reserved to a few initiated young people. I wanted to make it accessible from the comfort of our own homes.
The association seeks to bring together Australian and French schools, businesses and people so they will realise how much we can get out of sharing ideas, concepts and work-force.
The association is already carrying out a few projects:
In Sydney, a French play is being put on stage at the Alliance Francaise. The stage director is French and will be directing it through Skype. We are currently recruiting the actors and the opening is planned for May 2012.
Young mothers from France and Australia are sharing business ideas in order to combine motherhood and part-time work. The publication page of the website www.themeanstotheway.org is used as a platform to share ideas.
Students from France are finding opportunities for their traineeships in Australian companies during Winter 2012. In order to finish their curriculum they need to complete a few months of unpaid work experience in an overseas company. "The means to the way" aims to facilitate communication before their arrival with the company where they wish to work. The association also provides assistance on their arrival (accommodation, airport pick up and set up) and assistance during their work placement.
A team of Australian young writers will be attending the Tour de France in 2012 and reporting via Skype and other publications on our website. They will be provided with the necessary assistance and material in order to share their amazing experiences.
"The means to the way" is always open to help creating new community projects in order to realise dreams whether it is from the comfort of an ordinary home or on the other side of the globe.
Providing the means to your way, we believe where there is a will, there is always a way.
