American comedy series, The Mindy Project, has been renewed for a new season. This will be the show's fifth season.
On Friday, the star of the show, Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton, the show's executive producer announced cast additions for the upcoming seasin at Hulu's Television Critics Association presentation. The line up includes B.J. Novak, Bill Hader and Nasim Pedrad among others.
Bryan Greenberg will also join the cast as a new pediatric nurse, and Rebecca Rittenhouse will be seen as a young new doctor at Shulman & Associates.
The show, which won the Critics' Choice Television Award for 'Most Exciting New Series' was cancelled by Fox after three seasons, but got picked by Hulu on May 15, 2015.
The fifth season will feature 16 episodes, compared to 26 episodes in season four.
Hader starred as Mindy's boyfriend in season one of the show where he broke the lead's heart, while Novak will return as the Latin professor called Jamie from season one, who is also one Mindy's love interest. He will reportedly return for a "juicy little arc."
Mindy seemed excited about Pedrad's presence in the show saying, "I've been dying to write for her forever."
"She fits so perfectly in our world."
The Iranian-American actress will play the Mindy's son's pediatrician.
Catching up with the latest trend, Kaling and Warburton revealed that there would some 'Pokemon Go' jokes.
Kaling also assured the fans more screen time for Danny Castellano in the upcoming season. "He's still in the world of the show, so fans don't have to worry," she said.
This season's episodes will be just as fun-filled as before with episodes titles like "Decision 2016" and "If I Was Born a White Man".
