According to the latest reports, former leading lady of 'The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev may be returning for the show's final season as the villain.
The Inquisitr reported should the 27 year old actress return, she will not come back as Elena Gilbert but will portray another character. In an interview with E! News, Kat Graham teased fans about an "amazing female bada**" playing the new villain in Season 8.
"It's going to be good," she teased, possibly referring to Dobrev.
In other rumors, the word is going around that the character Damon Salvatore, played by Ian Somerhalder, might exit if his ex-girlfriend returns. Somerhalder is now married to 'Twilight' actress Nikki Reed.
In the Season 7 finale, Damon heard Elena's voice and was dragged into the vault and seemingly encountered the evil force residing there.
Since 'The Vampire Diaries' are known for running doppelganger plots, showrunner Julie Plec might play upon the cards of something looking like Elena but is not actually Elena. The real Elena is still linked to Bonnie by the heretic spell, so she remains in a coffin in a storage locker.
It has also been speculated that the vault might have manifested itself to resemble Elena.
The Vampire Diaries will return for its final season on October 21, on The CW.
