For at least six weeks, the world has faced one of the worst pandemics in the history of humanity. The number of deaths and people infected has increased exponentially, and it has not slowed down. The Coronavirus, also known as COVID 19, has not only negatively affected us but also changed the way we live. At this point, there is still no cure for COVID 19.
Many doctors and medical scientists have scrambled to find a treatment for patients who got infected. People rushed to the grocery store to stock up so much toilet paper and food that they are not going to use all of it in one year. There has been a shortage of masks. People cannot get out of their houses. "Fear" is the word that would correctly describe the current situation. This virus is spreading so fast that people panic.
What is a pandemic?
A pandemic is a global outbreak of disease. Pandemics happen when a new virus emerges to infect people and can spread between people rapidly. COVID 19 is one of the most lethal epidemics in human history.
However, COVID 19 is not the worst virus in world history. There is another virus that is so lethal that the death rate of those who get infected is 100%. It spreads from one person to another person, from generation to generation, and nothing can stop it. One hundred percent of people in human history have gotten this disease, and many will also get this disease in the future. It affects all people around the world, and there isn't any medicine for the disease.
There is no amount of quarantine that could stop this virus. However, the majority of the people are unaware of this virus because they have taken the wrong tests. It is not a physical disease. It is a spiritual disease, and it is called "sin".
What is sin?
Sin is anything that contradicts the character of God. Just like COVID 19, sin began to exist because Satan deceived Adam and Eve. Consequently, they decided to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Their action disobeyed God. "Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned" (Romans chapter 5, verse 12). Because of the sin of Adam and Eve, sin spreads through the entire earth.
Death and sin entered the world at that point, and they continue to exist today. Sin is destructive. Here is another problem. The majority of people aren't even aware of this spiritual virus. Also, though it is deadlier than COVID 19, the media does not cover this fatal spiritual virus.
The cure
The cure for this spiritual disease is not invented in a lab by scientists. The remedy is not a human invention, but God's intervention. For God so loved the world that He sent the Cure so that whoever receives the Cure shall not perish but have eternal life (John chapter 3, verse 16). Indeed, Jesus Christ is the cure.
Two thousand years ago, Jesus came to earth. He lived a perfect life that God commanded us to live, but we fail to live. Jesus perfectly loved God and His people. Then, Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for the sins of those who trust in Him.
Also, His perfect obedience is credited to all believers. "So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men" (Romans chapter 5, verse 18). Through the obedience of Jesus Christ, all believers will be made righteous before God (Romans 5, verse 19). Jesus not only died but also raised from the grave to demonstrate His victory over sin and death.
His wounds cure our spiritual sickness (Isaiah chapter 53, verse 5). Jesus is the greatest physician of the soul. The cure for our spiritual disease is not in medicine, but in His blood, and it is accessible to all people. It is 100% effective.
To receive this cure, first, you must realize that you are spiritually sick. You will not come to Jesus if you don't acknowledge your spiritual illness. Jesus didn't come to save those who are spiritually healthy, but those who are spiritually ill. Then, you must repent from all of your sins and trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. When you do that, Jesus promises that He will give you the forgiveness of sin and eternal life.
Jesus said in John chapter 11, verses 25-26, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die." Trust in Jesus now so that even if you die, you shall live.
