Australia has been handed a tough draw for January's Hopman Cup, with Lleyton Hewitt and Alicia Molik set to face top seeds Serbia in group A.
The Serbian team boasts world number two Novak Djokovic and 2008 French Open champion Ana Ivanovic, and will head into the tournament as favourites ahead of the American team of Serena Williams and John Isner.
With Australia heading into the tournament unseeded they will also have to defeat fourth-seeded Belgium whose team includes former world number one Justin Henin.
The other Group A side is Kazakhstan.
Group B features USA, third-seeded Great Britain, France and Italy.
The schedule for the January 1-8 event in Perth will be released today.
The Shanghai Masters
Roger Federer was defeated by Britain's Andy Murray over the weekend.
Federer was convincing outplayed, with Murray defeating the world number two, 6-3, 6-2 to win the Shanghai Masters.
This win marks Murray's second finals victory over the former world number one in two months his other title of the season from his victory over Federer in the Toronto in August.
Federer was plagued with 30 unforced errors and failed to convert on six break point chances, with only 20 winners in the entire match that lasted only 90 minutes.
Federer applauded Murray's skills and his tight game.
"Andy had a great effort. I had some chances but I couldn't break through. He played great and didn't give me much," he said.
"He made me work hard, I couldn't find many great shots, he was too good. But I still had a good week and beat some good players."
Japan Women's Open
Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn has won the singles crown in the Japan Women's Open, dashing Kimiko Date Krumm's bid to become the oldest player to win a tour title.
The 33-year-old Thai ace, Tanasugarm, was the runner-up in 2001 and the doubles champion with Maria Sharapova in 2003.
She took the title with a 7-5, 6-7 (4-7), 6-1 victory over the four-time former champion Date Krumm.
Krumm, 40 years old, had she won, would have become the oldest player to win a tour title, overtaking Billie Jean King's record in 1983 at 39 years of age.
Tanasugarm, took three hours and seven minutes to defeat Date Krumm, snatching the title and the record from her.
