Chelsea blew another chance to take the lead again with a 1-1 draw with Spurs at White Hart Lane. In what Chelsea used to call "3 Point Lane" Chelsea struggled to create chances and scored late to equalise through Drogba. Then in stoppage time, Chelsea were awarded a penalty in which Drogba took, however Gomez was equal to it with a dramatic save to keep Chelsea's poor form going.
Manchester City again took another 3 points and put themselves as firm contenders for the title with a 3-1 away win at West Hams Upton Park. City were too strong with new recruit Silva the main man with a fantastic performance. Tevez has handed in a transfer request however without him, City still look a formidable force.
In 2 Midland derby's, Aston Villa scored a much needed victory coming out 2-1 winners at home to West Brom. Villa scored early through downing before Heskey doubled the lead midway through the second half. West Brom pulled one back but it was too late and Villa held on for the win. In the other Midlands derby Wolves struck late in the first half to take all 3 points at home to Birmingham.
The rest of the weekend action saw Newcastle record their first win in 6 games at home to Liverpool. Carol was again instrumental in front of their new manager as Newcastle came out 3-1 winners. Bolton won at home for the first time in 5 years over neighbours Blackburn thanks to a late Holden Strike. Blackpool were impressive with a hard fought 1-0 away victory at Stoke. Everton and Wigan played out a scoreless draw as did Fulham and Sunderland.
