When the "Vampire Diaries" season 6 left off this year, Bonnie was left alone in an abandoned 1994. It has been such a harrowing experience for her that she symbolically burned a Christmas tree in episode 10, meaning she is finally letting go of the past.
Executive Producer Caroline Dries told E! News that when the "Vampire Diaries" comes back next year, fans will see a whole new side to Bonnie.
"Bonnie was trying to see the silver lining in her situation and get out and enjoy a day where she could celebrate and reminisce and not feel sorry for herself. She tried to take the high road, and she did, but by the end of the day she realized, 'This isn't working. I'm alone here. This sucks. Screw it.' This first chapter of Bonnie being stuck in this prison world is over, and a new bad ass Bonnie is emerging," shared Dries.
When Bonnie returns to the present, her relationship with Jeremy would be in question since he dealt with losing Bonnie by hooking up with as many girls as possible. Will they still stand a chance? Or would the new "bad ass" Bonnie finds herself attracted to someone else?
"The Vampire Diaries" season 6 returns to the CW on Thursday, January 22 at 8 p.m. EST.
