Living through the last 15-20 years has been like sitting through one of my wife's beloved Jane Austen series, watching a bunch of intelligent well learned people spend half their lives in misery for the simple reason they don't wish to offend anyone on the way to stating what they really want.
I know, there's more to it than that, but I, like most human beings like to base my judgements and opinions on a quick five minutes of observations. But still I have a point. Democracy has shown its weaknesses of late, and the evil parasites of this earth are on the attack.
Any engineer or builder will tell you joining a bad quality material together with a good quality material will ultimately lead to more problems than just having the inferior product on its own, and this as far as I can tell has become a real problem for those great nations of the earth such as the USA and Great Britain.
It has to do with leadership. Inconsistency. One strong decision, followed by a weak one. One elected leader willing to make tough choices, followed by another unwilling to follow through with them. Whether you agreed or not President George W Bush, he gained respect when he went to war to defend our freedom, then lost our respect when we found out he lied to all of us. (And maybe when he read the children's book upside down also.)
Inconsistency. President Obama captivated us at the beginning with forceful and well-timed public orations and charismatic energy but now he looks like a winded boxer struggling to stay on his feet. Inconsistency. The vacuum created by his willingness to meddle with other nations leadership and then leave an empty throne for whoever wishes to take it has opened the door for all types of evil.
The houses are being swept clean for the seven more wicked spirits. Again, making commitments to destabilise one government without the fortitude to bring in an appropriate new one is not being consistent to finish what you start.
Asking a big question
If western nations are going to go to war to make the earth a safer and better place for everyone then why not impose our government instead of waiting for another which could well be worse than the one we got rid of? Because it's undemocratic? Or politically incorrect? I think with all the knowledge and information we have now some people might start agreeing with me that no democracy exists without a dictatorship hidden behind it anyway.
It's heartbreaking to see what's happening in Iraq right now, as innocent minorities are hunted like animals and slaughtered. For all the time and money wasted and lives sacrificed I wish the US had just made it another of their states. Why not? Make it your own, take the people under your care and then defend it like it's your own country.
Maybe we are unwilling to take on new territories and instil our values in another place because we can't decide what they are at home. Nations built strongly on laws based on a Christian and Judean viewpoint are weakening themselves by wanting to maintain stable societies while turning against any morality based on a fear of God.
This has paved the way for legalistic Islamic terrorist groups to form a strong bond by judging us according to our morals and thus see the need to eradicate us like an unclean cockroach. (Even though they themselves are whitewashed tombs full of dead men's bones, broods of vipers, hypocrites who judge others while they rape, pillage and murder their way through the land.) Which in probability on the other side will cause resentment of anything to do with traditional religions on a mass scale thus giving rise to a spirit of lawlessness, as carnal people point the finger of blame for the worlds ills at those who insist on any sort of moral standard for society.
Any wonder why we need strong leadership, Christians around the world are facing adversity. The nations need leaders who won't faint in the day of adversity and will stay consistent and on course. Once again, and in my not very researched opinion I think Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is at this time showing that he is a good leader, He is consistent in his resolve to achieve peace for his people, he does not bow easily to pressure and from what I can see he is attempting to be honest with the world about his operations.
It's almost like he is unwilling to make the same mistakes as America already has. Now before all you Christians start clapping, just because I complimented the man, does it mean I light a menorah every night and send monthly donations to Pastor John Hagee. Christ is no longer known after the flesh and neither are his people, but of course, God loves them and their neighbours.
Canon Andrew White
I also want to mention Canon Andrew White " The Vicar of Baghdad" who whilst I was watching a live interview at two am the past week, when asked what he would tell his members now in the face of the advancing ISIS fighters and their threats, with an already depleted congregation as thousands had already left - openly he stated he will tell them that he will stay, he will be with them and not go anywhere even when or if there is only one member left.
That is true resolve. That is a true shepherd. That is a true leader. And that….is what the world needs.
