Where do any of us go to find peace?
One early summer Sunday morning I got up early to hit the surf. It was a beautiful, crystal clear morning. The waves were perfect for my ability and I had a great morning catching a few easy rides. I felt at peace. I felt like God was there with me. He spoke to me. He challenged me, comforted me and showed me what I should do. A heavy feeling of His presence overwhelmed me and I sang a few songs in my head (however, for some reason "Stairway to Heaven" was one of them). I left the beach and headed home to relax extremely blessed to have some peace and contentment in my life.
Where do any of us go to find peace with God?
Many people find their peace in many different places. God can meet me and you where we feel the most comfortable. He might want me or you to take up that neglected pencil or paintbrush to paint. He might get me or you to put on that favourite song or hymn that always uplifts your spirit. He might have me or you sing a song round a piano, play a round of golf, go to football training or take the camera out and let you take photos of his creation. He may find me or you sitting still and quiet in a church building staring at a stained glass window or jumping up and down in a mosh pit. Find the place where we can meet with God.
God can give us a peace that surpasses or transcends all understanding (Philippians 4:7). I could not explain the feeling I had that day where I felt that peace. Many people have found that peace. Even when times get tough and we have those days we wished would end, know that your Father in heaven is waiting, watching and wanting to be in that place of peace with you.
