So, I stand as a saviour to you all (not in a Jesus, "behold I stand at the door and knock" way. More in a "throw me a bone", "I've got your back" kind of way). I will be (or at least, will attempt to be) the missing link.
Think of me as the cheat sheet your friend hands you before an exam (to study, not to take into the exam. A moral relativist I am not), allowing you to appear knowledgeable whilst retaining the least amount of information possible. You have a problem, namely your lack of knowledge about women's sport (ok so this may be one of the smaller problems you have but hey, we're starting small) and I have the solution.

Aussie netball team the Diamonds beat New Zealand's Silver Ferns (honestly, who thinks up these names?) 58-57 in overtime at the World Championships last week. Revenge is sweet - they lost to NZ at the Commonwealth Games last year in double overtime.
Japan won the Women's World Cup in a penalty shoot-out against the USA, becoming the first Asian nation to do so. It was the most Tweeted event in history (or at least, in Twitter's 5-year history. Still, momentous. Twitter is a social networking site, if you don't know. For more information, ask your children... or grand children).
Three Australia women won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in a world championship triathlon in Hamburg, Germany. And all of their names are Emma!
Aussie Ashleigh Gentle also won the Edmonton ITU Triathlon World Cup in Canada. She's the reigning Junior World Champion.
Australian basketball team the Opals will verse China in a three-game series late this July. Dual Olympic silver-medallist Suzy Batkovic will headline the team because it needed a bit of a boost.
Singapore's Feng Tianwei won the Women's Singles title at the Japan Open... of Table Tennis.
In other news, stiletto heels are now injuring more women than sport mishaps. Go figure.
