For over 25 years ANGLICARE Sydney has been offering support to people with dementia and their carers through its Chesalon day centre program.
Day centres have the dual benefit of providing respite for carers as well as a rich, stimulating experience that brings quality of life, care and relationships to those with dementia.
Today ANGLICARE Sydney opened a new Chesalon day centre in Harris Park, serving the Parramatta, Holroyd and Auburn local government areas.
Through a partnership with All Saints Anglican Church in Parramatta the service will be based in St Paul's Anglican Church Hall at 13a Crown Street, Harris Park - Monday to Friday.
Peter Kell, CEO of ANGLICARE Sydney says, "A lot of work goes into ensuring our day centres feel like a home away from home."
"Equally important is the effort spent making the activities enjoyable and relevant to the interests of clients in a way that counteracts some of the frustration and agitation that can accompany dementia."
"For carers, becoming linked to one of ANGLICARE's Chesalon dementia day centres brings them closer to others in similar circumstances. It's a chance to network, learn about services designed to support you and keep your community connections," says Peter Kell.
ANGLICARE Sydney is a Christian Care organisation with programs that are open to people of all faiths.
