This year's National Day of Thanksgiving is set to take place on Saturday, May 25, and will especially honour those working in the judicial system, including judges, court officials, police and administrative staff, as well as youth who are making an impact through community service and church leadership.
National Coordinator of the event, Brian Pickering, has called on churches and schools interested in participating to request Information Packs and a promotional DVD which will assist them in understanding how they can become involved in the Day.
"Schools are being provided with their own pack as a way of encouraging them to understand how they can use the day to promote thanksgiving to their students, but also, by undertaking acts of kindness in the community, showcase their values to the community at large," he said.
"Principals, Teachers, Chaplains and Parents wanting to encourage their child's school to become involved, are encouraged to order a School Information Pack. These packs can also be directly downloaded from the National Day of Thanksgiving website."
Pickering also invited any local communities affected by flooding or bushfires wishing to say thank you to those who were involved in relief and recovery operations to take the opportunity on the day.
The National Day of Thanksgiving is organised by the Australian Prayer Network and began in 2003 as a vision founded on the Christian heritage of the country, and how the persecuted, oppressed, and displaced can find sanctuary here.
