Micah Challenge in Australia has called on all Christians to pray for the world leaders and the decision they will make in the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit beginning on early September.
Meeting in Sydney on September 1st, the organisers described themselves as Ambassadors of God's values that are 'swimming against the world's tide in the global pond.'
In the APEC meeting, a range of issues will be discussed. Alexander Downer, Australia's Foreign Minister, has told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) that the issue of climate change is on the agenda list to be discussed by the 21-nations leaders participating in the summit.
"This year I think it is also going to play a very important role in helping to free up energy markets and make sure that there is a much better, more constructive international approach to the issue of climate change," he said.
Micah Challenge is a global movement of Christian agencies, churches, groups and individuals which aims to deepen people's engagement with the poor and to help reduce poverty as an integral part of our Christian faith.
