Among the worst developments are Hollywood's consistent sexualisation of teen girls; a court's attempt in Ontario, Canada, to lift laws that criminalise prostitution; the legalisation of same-sex marriage in Mexico City, WCF listed in its January newsletter.
On the positive side, some of last year's best developments for the family include the November election of a pro-family US House of Representatives; Spain's massive pro-life demonstrations in March against the expanded abortion law; and the UK government's efforts to ensure that children do not have access to Internet pornography.
WCF Managing Director Larry Jacobs acknowledged that "anyone can draw up a list of 10 best or worse trends".
But he assured, "Ours is validated by the Congress' experience and expertise. We've been dealing with family issues internationally for the past 14 years."
Founded in 1997, WCF is an international network of pro-family organisations, scholars, leaders and people of goodwill from more than 60 countries that seek to restore the natural family as the fundamental social unit of civil society. It is a project of The Howard Center for Family, Religion & Society in Rockford, Ill.
Last year, the network was directly involved in fighting gay marriage in Mexico City, the legalisation of marijuana in California and Kenya's pro-abortion Constitution.
WCF also included in its list of "worst developments" for the family in 2010 the repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" military policy in the US that had banned open homosexuality.
"This move is a major step toward homosexualising American society," WCF wrote in the newsletter. "By conferring credibility on an aberrant lifestyle, the move will also advance the gay agenda in education, adoption and marriage law."
The repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" was passed by the Senate in December and signed by President Barack Obama just a few days later.
