There are so many things happening for the young writer program in 2020, a ministry of Press Service International in conjunction with Christian Today.
IT improvements
Nic Lee a young writer from Melbourne who is an IT business analyst and runs his own web business contacted us last month exploring ways we might have the CV pages on our PSI site ‘Australian based’.
The Press Service International site use Weebly which is ideally suited to the CV pages whereby each and every young writer uploads their own articles to their specific pages. Nic is working with our past web master Josh Hinds and new PSI web master Sam Gillespie.
The problem area was that Josh Hinds sent to Weebly the names and email addresses of each young writer for their CV page and Weebly (which is automated) sends to those email addresses their ‘codes’ – but only some emails get through. This is a constant issue. Nic Lee and Sam Gillespie are looking at creating an Australian web based site with Australian generated ‘codes’ for these young writer CV pages.
This is a list of reasons of the value of the CV sites
- it provides a record for PSI of all articles under each young writer’s name
- it provides a record for you and your family
- when you are unable to provide an article (as has happened) it is a pleasing task to go to your CV site and select a previous article
- all young writers have s following - they can go to your CV site and find your lust of articles
- each day other Christian media goes to our PSI site to find articles for their publications often fillers for a vacant column
- someone in the media might find your articles and offer you a position or a different path and it’s happened
- a few of our young writers have secured a media career and had their PSI CV site in their presentation
All solid reasons to keep your CV site updated
a great effort put into PSI and it is simply a courtesy to keep it updated
Kiwi young writers Patron
Major Christina Tyson the former head of the Salvation Army Media Unit and a foundational Kiwi young writer Panellist for the annual awards – has become the Patron to the Kiwi young writers looking to establishing a NZ Legal Entity.
Christina in 2020 will work with the Kiwi young writers to progress this space that sometime in 2020 the Kiwi young writers will be a separate entity to the Australian young writers – 2020 will be their 9th year.
2020 commences on Monday 20 January
The first three weeks of 2020 are set aside for the republishing of the young writer Best Articles of 2019 as determined by the Panellists for the 2019 Awards.
This means that the 2020 young writer program commences on Monday 20 January with Aira Chilcott an Australian Panellist setting out the ‘due dates’ for the entire year. This is a massive help to us all. This was something I did for years but my eyes began to go ‘funny’ with the close monitor work, and last year Aria, a retired secondary teacher did this important task and continued it in 2020.
Brain’s Trust – Saturday 2 May –
The young writers Brain’s Trust each year meets to plan the annual young writer conference. Last year the Brain’s Trust met in Melbourne as the 2019 conference was in Melbourne.
This year he Brain’s Trust meet on the Gold Coast adjacent to the Gold Coast AirPort at the Living Temple Christian Church (Tugun Baptist) from 10.00am to 12.30pm.
One important happenstance at this 2 May Brain’s Trust is a photograph of them all with The Gutenberg plaque, the 2019 premier award by the Australasian Religious Press Association to Press Service International – our young writer ministry.
4-5 Sept – Perth – Australasian Religious Press Association
ARPA is an annual conference of Christian media, last year it was held in Christchurch New Zealand, the year before in Brisbane, and next year in Perth.
This year in Christchurch our young writer ministry Press Service International was presented ARPA’s premier award The Gutenberg. This was after 10 years of developing young writers in Christian media, a wonderful accolade.
Sat 12 Sept – annual young writer conference
One week after ARPA, is next year’s young writer’s annual conference being held on Sat 12 Sept on the Gold Coast adjacent to the Gold Coast Air Port at the Living Temple Christian Church (Tugun Baptist) from 9.45am to 15.00pm.
Following much the same schedules as previous conferences, are two morning plenaries and following lunch three workshops and at 4.00pm the annual awards.
Next year one of the morning plenary’s is being taken by the Kiwi young writers on their past and future.
