Speakers
Russell Modlin is a secondary teacher and master in a Christian school with wife Belinda and three sons. We met Russell in the early 90’s at North Mackay Christian School when we were on a Country Town Tour with world triple IronMan chaplain Bruce Thomas. He became sold on the idea of peers speaking into the hearts of young people.
A few years later Russell Modlin and family took his family for a call to Alice Springs as a sports master in a Christian school and almost five years later returned to family on the Sunshine Coast. It was while Russell was in Alice Spring we connected and he became one of the first young writers for Christian Today. He moved from junior writer, to Over 31 writer, a senior writer and now a Masters Senior writer.
The first young writer conference in 2013 in Melbourne where Russell Modlin was MC – a role he had distinguished himself with since. At the 2015 conference Russell placed them young writers in small round table groups with butcher paper where they answered the set questions he put.
Russell and Rebecca Moore along with a pre conference planning group ran the 2017 conference on the Sunshine Coast. Russell then travelled all the way to Christchurch for the 2018 conference.
Thomas Devenish
Tomorrow Friday 2 July is a feature article on Thomas Devenish a professional high tech television material guru – a producer of excellence. Thomas has been a young writer since 2015 and in 2016 an Award winner.
Ben Campbell
Ben is the CEO of the internationally acclaimed Africa Enterprise and in 2017 attended ‘One Day in Melbourne’ a day conference for mission media executives. Christian Today asked whether we might get mission columns and Ben was approached. His people send in articles which are regularly published. The subject matter is board as are the young writers subjects and Ben is speaking on the breadth of material for publication.
Pow-wow
At each conference is a group ‘pow-wow’ meet before afternoon tea - so too in 2021. Then at 4.00pm are the annual awards.
