What about this - the Bay of Fires Walk For Spiritual Seekers is an authentic wilderness experience & retreat located in Tasmania, Australia offered to supernaturally encounter God and receive spiritual transformation without religion through the power & love of Jesus Christ and the holy spirit.
It involves a 20km 2 day hike along some of the most beautiful isolated beaches in the world with a one night camp stop. It is led by Tim and Deb Crawshaw on a free/donation basis. No previous experience is necessary. Hiking packs containing most equipment are available for loan at no cost.
One of the first things Tim explains about the Bay of Fires Walk For Spiritual Seekers that he and wife Deb operate in Tasmania, Australia is that Christian "religion" and Christian "Spirituality" are not the same.
Many Christians and non-Christians that he’s spoken to in Australia and other developed countries have told me that they are turned off by the brand and style of Christianity that traditional institutional or success orientated charismatic led churches offer because they don't reflect who Jesus is and what he taught about the kingdom of Heaven.
Religion and performance has replaced relationship. Preserving a supernatural past through traditions has replaced a God who still performs miraculous acts.
Get the picture?
The Bay of Fires Walk for Spiritual Seekers was an idea that sprung from our passion for the Lord Jesus and it was his response to a style of church that just wanted to box him up without offering freedom, supernatural signs, wonders (as described in Acts 2) and miracles that Jesus promised that his followers would carry out (John chapter 14 verse 12).
Tim’s says his supernatural experiences with God have been the most intense, life defining and treasured moments of his life. All were necessary to prepare Tim for this ministry that began in September 2018.
From his first supernatural experience when he was illuminated by Jesus and the Holy Spirit with living water bursting through a heavenly portal in my abdomen (John chapter 7 verses 38) to the most recent where God manifested to me on a patch of grass in a multi coloured fire (Acts chapter 2 verse 19) I have been forever changed by manifestations of his presence.
These experiences had nothing to do with his educational background, church training, denominational standpoint etc. Nor are they something Tim had to personally work for in my own strength. It doesn't work that way with God.
God has rewarded Tim’s love and openness to experience him fully with these events. He has made himself available to carry out work in me so his will can manifest from Heaven to Earth.
We tell people who are considering coming on the Bay of Fires Walk For Spiritual Seekers here in Tasmania that all they need is a willingness to let God reveal himself to them. That's it.
Pre-reading
There is some pre-reading recommend for participants to read on the walk website if they have no Christian background. One piece is called "Lose Your Ego-Jesus Style" and the other is called :How to Avoid Spiritual Bankruptcy in a Success Driven Age. Jesus Without Religion".
Tim Crawshaw writes: “When we arrive at the start of the walk people are given the opportunity to receive healing prayer and that could be emotional, mental or physical. We can also ask God to heal addictions. God wants people starting the walk free of bondage and we have seen him free people consistently.
“People can specifically request what they want to receive from God on the walk through prayer and many people receive their first real tangible supernatural experience of God’s presence through Jesus and the Holy Spirit at this moment as we release his power through our hands on to their head or shoulder. That's a beautiful moment for them, God and us.
“Some people don't know what to pray for at the start and I ask God to reveal to the person how God sees them in his eyes and to give that person an encounter with him in a way that he knows they need.
“On the first day we walk 12km and there aren't really any structures or routines that we adhere to apart from lunch, setting up the campsite, eating dinner and spending the evening together. During that time I'm allowing the Holy Spirit to work through me regarding what God is wanting to do.
“Some people end up receiving 5 instalments of prayer on the first day and people speak to us and each other about how God has revealed himself to them and transformed them in someway!
“The beauty of the physical surroundings is not of this world which when combined with the supernatural presence of God working in participants makes things feel like they are happening outside time and space.
“The campfire in the evening as a real special time for all participants and we boldly ask God to come with the Holy Spirit and manifest to us as a group. The way that God does this changes every time.
“We continue a similar format on the second day and finish with prayers of thanks and debriefing.
My concluding thoughts at the end of each walk are the same. That God had been waiting patiently for every participant to come so he could have HIS way with them the way that HE knew they needed him so they could have life to the full as he promises us through Jesus Christ (John chapter 10 verses 10).”
