Have you ever asked someone how they are today or how their week has been? Their answer is that is has been busy? The term busy is very common in this day and age that we live in.
Over the summer period I was sitting on a beach and the Lord began to show me areas in which I have been busy in doing. Areas in 2018 that no longer had significance in 2019 if I was going to be effective for the Kingdom of God.
If I am going to be the man of God that he wants me to be, I had to cut out some areas in my life that was just creating busyness and was not creating fruit in my life. What do I mean by creating fruit? I mean the areas that if I want to see change in my life, then I need to bear godly fruit that will have a everlasting impact in my everyday life.
Busyness
See, busyness has become a idol in our lives. It controls every decision in our lives, every relationship we walk into and even impacts our most important area in our life and that is our spiritual growth which I want to touch on today.
In my pastoral ministry journey, I challenge people to be in a connect group as it is a form of discipleship and people tell me they are just too busy. Now I respect people's decisions but when it comes to your spiritual growth you can never be too busy for that.
The Holy Spirit wants to move in your life in 2019. In order for that to take place, you and I need to make sure that we are putting Jesus at the centre of our spiritual growth.
I was talking with a friend recently and we are both in ministry and we were challenging each other about our calendars to make sure that we aren't becoming to busy this year that we have forgotten about what we are created for and that is to see disciples made.
Living with God
When you live under the covenant (relationship) of the spirit of God, you and I can't live busy anymore because everything is embraced from the overflow of the grace of God upon your life.
I want to encourage you with a couple of areas that will help you and I maintain the areas of not allowing the busyness of life to get in the way of what the Holy Spirit wants of us in our lives:
#1 Make sure that spending time in the presence of God is your first priority
We sometimes become too busy doing things that we forget to spend time in the presence of God. Daily in the morning, I encourage you to get up and speak forth the promises that God has for you. Get a good bible reading plan and spend time soaking in the written word of God.
#2 Invest in a great community
This year I am empowered to make sure that I have the right people speaking into my life. There is nothing worst when you have the wrong people speaking into your life. That can create hardship with the busyness that drains you.
If you hang around negative people, then the result of that impact is that you will be a negative person. So to make sure you are living a fruitful lifestyle, my encouragement would be to invest in great relationships which has healthy boundaries attached to it.
I pray that this article encourages you today to block out all aspects of busyness so that you and I can become the man and woman of God that he has created us to be so we can live in the overflow of the Holy Spirit for our lives.
