The Australasian Religious Press Association’s (ARPA) 2021 annual conference has once again been cancelled due to Covid restrictions and travel. However the ARPA 2021 annual awards will be held on Zoom.
Saturday 4 September is the date for the ARPA annual awards. These annual awards have a long rich history for Australian and New Zealand Christian print press from the 1970s.
The Judges mark for each of the awards – whereby each member Christian media unit selects their BEST article in the categories – there are 22 different categories.
Moreover for each category there is a Gold, Silver and Bronze awards.
Each member Christian media unit receives multi-faceted nomination forms for all these different categories and then sent back to ARPA their nominations – it is quite a logistical exercise.
Seven nominations
Each member Christian media unit has some big decisions to make as to which categories to enter and which articles to select for that entry.
There are 22 categories – each Christian media unit has to some categories that stand out, in other words, look no further. Nonetheless they need to be assessed.
Only 7 nominations are allowed.

Each year the Judges make their selections which are then announced at the annual conference – in 2021 the annual awards are on Zoom.
The Gutenberg
The annual ARPA premier award is The Gutenberg. Named after German inventor Johannas Gutenberg 1390-1468 the inventor of the printing press which gave the Bible into the hands of ordinary people.
The annual ARPA premier award – The Gutenberg – is a plaque with the names of each annual winner.
