Competing desires circle my soul
watching,
waiting,
to swallow me whole
Competing desires circle my soul
be they far for a time,
near again they will come.
soliciting alternatives to truer desires within
Competing desires circle my soul
in impossibility,
I may turn;
true desire being out of my grasp
Competing desires circle my soul
what now is left?
not right,
so I write.
Competing desires circle my soul
I write, I fight,
I might be alright
with both...
Competing desires circle my soul
circle my soul
circle my soul
till my soul is in circles
Circles in the big city
in which
I never know my luck
they say,
as they drag me away,
to a polished prison I desire;
desires that circle my soul
Competing desires circle my soul
when awake I rise,
to my pristine prison,
but my heart stays low
For deeper down again
a thirst for
wilderness,
beauty,
lostness,
impermance,
moment,
eternity.
"When?" laughs the ocean
"will I be destroyed?"
Now what is left,
but for deeper desire to now sedate.
Still competing desires circle my soul. …
