I had such an amazing dream recently. It first began with being involved in a spiritual battle with difficult decisions needing to be made quickly. Then I was climbing up a steep embankment and started to lose my grip and slip as I saw others go up ahead.
I was using my hands and feet to climb but I couldn’t seem to go up any further and started to go backwards. In need of help I quickly looked around and saw some vines stretching up the hill, and as I grabbed for them the dream immediately changed, and I knew I had failed by reaching for the vines.
After this I sat next to a driver in a vehicle and was upset because I couldn’t get up the mountain and knew that I was supposed to without reaching for the vines, but I would always fail. In my frustration and disappointment I then felt an indescribable presence, and a music I had never heard before begun to sound as the man begun to softly and beautifully sing these words to me: “love Me maybe a little more then you will see, love Me and your heart will be satisfied…”
He also sung two lines from a song that I sing about loving Him. I knew it was the Lord our God Jesus Christ who was singing to me! He was that man sitting next to me in my dream. Tears fell from my eyes as the emotion of the situation overtook me. I rested my head on His shoulder and in the last moments of His words sounding I saw a vision of an enormous and beautiful tree with many levels of canopies, branches and leaves that I knew represented the body of Christ.
Loving Jesus to overcome
The Lord’s soft singing faded and the music ended and I woke up in tears with such strong emotion and encouragement. I knew this was the Lord Jesus who comforted me and told me in such a beautiful manner to focus on Him and focus on loving Him more, then my heart will be satisfied through all things.
I felt it was also an answer to overcome the spiritual battles in my dreams and battles in life by seeking Him, relying on Him and loving Him. I felt the Lord was telling me that no matter what we go through; pain, suffering, heartache, tribulation, trials of all kinds and even death, that when we focus intensely on our love for our Saviour, who is our Lord, God and King Jesus Christ, we can get through all of these things and our hearts will be satisfied.
I believe in this wholeheartedly and the Lord showed me that those battles, obstacles and trials I can never gain victory over on my own, by focusing on loving Him and not giving up, I can overcome! This was an incredible key of understanding for me.
This is confirmed to me by what we are told in the word at Romans chapter 8 verses 35 to 37: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
Our first love
Jesus commands us “…You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
The two greatest commands of Jesus is to love Him, the Lord our God who is one with His Father and the Holy Spirit with all we are, and to love others as ourselves, as He loves us.
I can see through the dream I received the importance of loving the Lord in dealing with the trials and difficulties of life. I believe it will be so important in the times ahead, as I believe we are living in the last days before the tribulation and return of Jesus Christ.
This comforting of the Lord strengthens me to focus on my love for Him for who He is and for what He did for me by saving my soul from eternal death, by redeeming me from sin and destruction by His mighty love and salvation, through the blessed sacrifice of His flesh and blood upon the cross. A loving sacrifice not only for me but for the whole world, that by believing in Him we can be saved.
The word tells us to rejoice to the extent that we partake of Christ’s sufferings (1 Peter chapter 4 verse 13), and that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians chapter 4 verse 13). I believe in this, and believe that our love for God, who is our first love, is most vital (Revelation chapter 2 verse 4). I am joyful and thankful to receive such a treasured experience, which emboldens me to keep focused on loving Jesus Christ.
I hope to encourage others to focus on their love for God our Saviour in the difficult times in their lives, and also in the good. Loving our Lord Jesus is so important and love is the greatest of hope and faith (1 Corinthians chapter 13 verse 13)! Praise the Lord!
