The young writers of Press Service International are delighted - Christian Today Australia has approved a MUSIC column for those young writers who write and sing Christian music.
Brad Quillian one of our ‘One Day in Melbourne’ people sends me his created songs and earlier this week asked this.
The CTA editor got back to me with a YES - we can place them in the Entertainment or Ministry column in Christian Today. This is required of a young writer is as follows :
1 No more than 200 words in your article
2 Video or Audio clip ‘link’
Let the music and song do the ‘talking’.
This is a wonderful development. The high tech music production is at the young writer’s end. Christian Today will publish their finished production. They will have their music / song internationally promoted.
Sam Gillespie
Sam is the chair of the young writer Brain’s Trust – he is in Sydney. He is a classical composer with quite a number of compositions under his belt. He has been part of the Sydney Chamber Choir and travelled throughout Europe / UK singing in the great Cathedrals. He is in his final year of a PhD (scholarship).
Sam has agreed to be our Music Column Coordinator - the young writers are to send their article with music Link to Sam. He’s gracious and very helpful. Simple at that. It then gets sent to me for a publishing date in Christian Today.
A dad joke as to my music credentials - I was banned from our Canberra Baptist Youth Group Gospel Quartet in the 1960’s as I was on the Box and String (poor man’s double base) - I stutter and I couldn’t count to the beat of 4 !!
Yet at Port Kembla Baptist when I was a train driver, I played saxophone and read the music - alto and tenor - alto was E-Flat and the tenor was B-Flat - I transcribed piano music into E-Flat or B-Flat music – my fingering on the saxophone were either 3 above or 2 below the piano music - quick thinking - I held concerts ……
