The Press Service International young writer program in conjunction with Christian Today has annual awards, indeed celebrated at each year’s conference – these are determined by different sets of panellists.
These are the people who read and mark the articles – this covers the first six months of each year – and these points determine the winners.
International young writers’ Panellists
The international young writer Panellists kick-started the 2019 year with Week 1 of the young writer program which commenced on Monday 14 January.
At the end of Week 1, the hyperlinks of the international young writer articles were sent to each of the 5 Panellists who are designated to mark their articles. This is Cycle 1 completed for the international young writers.

Having marked each of the articles out of 10 and documented those marks on the proforma sheet, those marking sheets are sent direct to Aira Chilott in Canberra who collates the marketing sheets and then forwards them to statistician Bill Chilcott.
Kiwi young writers
The Kiwi young writers likewise commenced their 2019 year on Monday 14 January and their articles were housed in Christian Today New Zealand for the first three weeks of Cycle 1.
Week 4 are the NZ senior writers and Week 5 are the Kiwi Over 31s, therefore at the end of the third week of Cycle 1 the Kiwi young writer hyperlinked articles were collated and sent to the NZ Panellists. That was last Friday, 1 February.

Australian young writers
As the International young writers commenced the 2019 year on Monday 14 January, the Australian young writers commenced the new year on Monday 21 January and are housed in Weeks 2, 3 and 4, whereas Week 5 are the Over 31s.
This means the end of Week 4 is this Friday whereby the hyperlinked articles will be collated and sent to the panellists. Once marked they are sent by the Panellists to Aira Chilcott who collates them and forwards them to statistician Bill Chilcott.

Dr Mark Tronson is a Baptist minister (retired) who served as the Australian cricket team chaplain for 17 years (2000 ret) and established Life After Cricket in 2001. He was recognised by the Olympic Ministry Medal in 2009 presented by Carl Lewis Olympian of the Century. He mentors young writers and has written 24 books, and enjoys writing. He is married to Delma, with four adult children and grand-children. Dr Tronson writes a daily article for Christian Today Australia (since 2008) and in November 2016 established Christian Today New Zealand.
