The highly distinguished evangelical editor the Rev Bob Thomas, retired from New Life evangelical fortnightly magazine, has become one of Press Service International’s ‘mission writers’.
Rev Bob Thomas is heralded in evangelical circles around the world. A Presbyterian Minister, a previous Moderator General of Victorian Presbyterians, a Christian evangelical preacher of renown.
Perhaps the most remarkable accolade, given a personal invitation to the funeral of Billy Graham in the US.
He has been a key note speaker at many Christian conferences, a massive supporter of the Banner of Truth, a plenary speaker at the 2016 Press Service International young writers conference.
More importantly, a wonderful supporter of missions, he became the PSI - MC of the ‘One Day in Melbourne’ seminar on mission media. This ran for 5 years until Covid struck and Victoria’s stringent laws on gatherings.
When Rev Bob Thomas retired as the editor of New Life, Dr Mark Tronson the Chairman of Well-Being Australia – the retired Australian cricket team chaplain of 17 years, connected with Bob and invited him to keep his hand in as a Press Service International ‘mission’ writer.
Bob and Alison have two children, seven grand children and one great grandchild.
Mission – Senior
The Press Service International “mission – senior” writers are in three groups - they are published in Christian Today once every 5 weeks - these mission-senior writers are like this -
First those who are panellists marking the young writers for their annual awards.
Second the older Over 31s were bought into senor writers as young senior writers.
Third, mission writers – a term which connects senior Christian figures as writers – APRA’s Peter Bentley and Peter McGuigan. Dr Ross Clifford Principal of Morling. And now Rev Bob Thomas.
Christian Today Australia, Christian Today New Zealand, Christian Today UK are their publishers along with PSI’s daily feed service to their international data base of Christian media around the world.
Rev Bob Thomas first ‘mission’ article is being published in Christian Today tomorrow - Thursday 12 May.
