When I was first reading the Bible and the final chapter, the Revelation of Jesus Christ, I was intrigued at the depiction of a terrible ungodly leader who would emerge in the last days and would rule over the whole earth. This man would lead a one world government and rule over all the nations and greatly persecute the saints of God.
This man the Bible gives different names such as the antichrist, the beast, the man of sin, the son of perdition and the lawless one. This ruler is said to arise before the return of Jesus Christ and our gathering to Him: 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 verses 1 to 4: “Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.
Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.”
This man presents himself as an object of worship, and we are even told that the whole world will worship him: Revelation chapter 13 verses 7 to 8: “It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”
These are truly profound prophecies. As Christians we surely do not want to be alongside those who worship the antichrist, as this would mean we have denied our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Some have supposed that the church would not be present for these days, as we would be taken in the rapture, but the word says our gathering to the Lord will come after the antichrist is revealed.
Great deception
Then we know this is information of a high degree of importance. While we have many issues in our lives that occupy our attention and focus, including serving the Lord in our callings, we should not forget the prophecy of the word of God that will surely come to pass. Jesus warns us of deception before His return: Matthew chapter 24 verse 24: “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”
Apostle Paul warned us that the coming of the antichrist will be with great deception: 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 verse 9: “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders”.
By the power of Satan
Satan gives the antichrist his power, his throne, and great authority (Revelation chapter 13 verse 2). Satan and the antichrist are both worshipped, which leads to the view that the antichrist could be possessed by Satan: Revelation chapter 13 verse 4: “So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast…” We are told the antichrist will rule for exactly three and a half years (Revelation chapter 13 verse 5).
The antichrist beast will be attested to by a second beast called the false prophet, who will bring down fire from the sky in the sight of men when in the presence of the antichrist (Revelation chapter 13 verses 13 to 14). The antichrist’s number is 666 and he will implement the mark of the beast to small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, which is a mark in their right hand or forehead, that nobody may buy or sell without the mark of the beast (Revelation chapter 13 verses 16 to 18).
Those who receive the mark of the beast will be condemned (Revelation chapter 14 verses 9 to 11). We are told of Christians who refuse to accept the mark of the beast or worship the beast and his image, and they are beheaded as martyrs, but will be resurrected in the first resurrection (Revelation chapter 20 verse 4). The antichrist beast will be defeated when Jesus returns to rule and reign: 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 verse 8: “And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming”.
Identifying the antichrist
Many have pointed to candidates for the antichrist throughout history and today. There is a curious passage about his identity: Revelation chapter 17 verses 10 to 11: “There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. The beast that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is going to perdition.”
We know from this that the beast is grouped among seven kings but is also the eighth king, potentially meaning he was a king and returns to power as king again. While I certainly paid attention to the verses in the Bible about the antichrist, I didn’t give much regard to trying to identify him, as I assumed we could not know until a later time.
Then one day in 2017 I received a striking dream. In this dream I was with my family and we went inside a military base and we were invisible to the guards. I saw a room with a large stone sarcophagus and I peered inside and saw a man lying there with his arms crossed over his chest. It seemed like he was in a coma or stasis.
In my dream he slowly started to rise up and it seemed like he was about to open his eyes. A family member drew near to him out of intrigue, but I warned them sternly: “Don’t get close to him, this will be the most evil man in all of existence, once the spirit of Satan fully possesses him; he will rule the world and the world will worship him”. I said this with complete certainty.
In my dream we quickly exited the area and I saw a woman who could see us and she communicated to me by hand signs that I could understand, that I had indeed just seen the antichrist and he was who I saw he was. I was shocked. I believe God showed this to me and confirmed it (I believe) by multiple other dreams.
To my knowledge other Christian people have received similar dreams (realistically I cannot know everyone’s dreams - there may well be numerous other people identified in their dreams too). Therefore, no matter your views on this topic, be aware of the prophecy of God’s word and the rise of the antichrist (regardless of whom Christian people say it is).
