The first of January has been cultured to be a day of establishing goals for a new year’s vision board. It takes the course of some persons trying to visualize things not yet accomplished craving manifestation, or it could be something crazy that God has promised or purposed you to do. We write these visions for our lives, but when the storms of life try to overtake us, we shun away from walking in the light of an Omnipotent Father. We give up and discard the goals and purpose for our lives within the words and pictures on our vision board or our annual planner.
This year, like others, I did not engage in this activity because of the routine of the action marrying the disappointing unfulfilled dreams from the prior year. But why did I choose to disengage in something fundamental to my earthly and spiritual life?
Because I had forgotten the supernatural power of God and now rested in the arms of a commercialized ritual for unforeseen events.
Creatures have reshaped a concept that the Creator meant for His glory; marketed to achieve more than our earthly predecessors marrying the concept with scriptures. But where do the plans to prosper us materialize? Through subscribing to the visions, He has for your life.
No, I am not saying that your earthly vision will not be fulfilled, however, I am reminding you of (St. Matthew chapter 6 verse 33 GNB), “Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.”
All these other things that we set out in an annual plan to achieve on our own terms, speed, will and time will be added onto us by God.
Regardless, we fail to understand is the fundamentals of Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 2 that causes us to forfeit divinely orchestrated and manifested visions for society-inspired goals embedded in our feelings or the desire to prove our circumstances wrong. We have metamorphosed into children craving sweets of miracles, signs, and wonders, yet not the vegetables of prayer, fasting, reading His words and maintaining a relationship to form the vision together.
Union birthing Prescribed Dreams
We have positioned ourselves for self-actualization that we neglect the necessity of God guiding our goals.
We need to reconstruct our one-sided marriage with God and seek His direction on achieving His plans for us. And therefore, I believe that the 3 weeks of prayer and fasting and the weeks of seed faith and harvest serve as a necessary construct to formulating a vision to which you are the vessel.
God needs vessels to fulfill his purpose and whilst this goes against what I have believed for years, He wants to use you. Yes, you! Why not you?
Whilst in that period of prayer and fasting, God reveals things to you just as He did to Moses in Exodus chapter 24 verses 15-18. He reveals Himself to us and visions He wants to be fulfilled. This is the roots of how Moses, 4 chapters prior, made the vision of the commandments visible by writing it down for the people of Israel to see.
The vision must be visible
Habakkuk chapter 2 verses 2-3 concurs, “And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
I had a teacher in high school who told us to write things down because “what you write will outlast whatever you say whether through goodwill or emotions”. Writing things down is like a contract giving you reminders of the terms and conditions of this deed and who is partnering with you in this venture. God is our Partner through this venture of life and writing down the visions made in private with Him will be a faith reminder for you and a responsibility check for Him to manifest these things through you.
Fear of Dreaming too BIG
Now, I know my Heavenly Father is magnanimous and will instruct some impossible human-looking things of us, but He will make a way. I encountered this same fear of dreaming big to study in Wales because of my family’s financial constraints and my own lack of belief in the supernatural, but God wants us to BELIEVE BIG.
Even though the dream, the promise, the vision may tarry, it will surely happen.
Vision does not have to make sense to anybody. Vision does not have to check with your bank account. Vision does not have to take into consideration your past. All vision must do is come from God.
Stop making your vision a MAYBE, IF, OR circumstance.
Maybe He will elevate my church if it’s under new leadership. If I were qualified, I could be CEO. No! God gave you a vision, stick with it to the end.
The direction or path may change, but the purpose, vision or promise never changes.
Fighting with My Strength and NOT HIS
Many of us have been fighting with our strength to accomplish our society-inspired desires and now we are broken, torn, distressed, and confused.
Even in your season of brokenness and obscurity, our Good Father still wants to use us. “Do not be afraid! Take your stand [be firm and confident and undismayed] and see the salvation of the LORD which He will accomplish…/The LORD will fight for you while you [only need to] keep silent and remain calm.” (Exodus chapter 14 verses 13-14 AMP)
As Trudy-Ann Davis (2021) said, “You are not destroyed because God who is mighty in battle is on your side and He is fighting on your behalf. You have already overcome because greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world!”
Think about it: What If You VALUED THE VISION?
